To mark the 50th anniversary of Australia’s involvement in the Vietnam War, the Department of Veterans’ Affairs has made available a Commemorative Medallion and Certificate of Commemoration.

The Commemorative Medallion and Certificate of Commemoration will be available to every living veteran, widows of veterans and other family members of veterans of the Vietnam War.

Federal Member for Robertson, Dr Gordon Reid MP says he welcomes the news of this special 50th anniversary Commemorative Medallion and Certificate of Commemoration for our Vietnam veterans and their families.

“I welcome the announcement from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs and Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, The Hon. Matt Keogh MP, about the 50th Anniversary Commemorative Medallion and Certificate of Commemoration for Vietnam Veterans and their families”, Dr Reid said.

“We owe our serving and former defence personnel a high level of gratitude and respect for the sacrifices they made for our nation’s peace and security”, Dr Reid said.

“Australia can never repay the debt we owe to the 60,000 Australians who served in Vietnam, this medallion and certificate are a small but meaningful way to honour their service and to recognise the sacrifice of those who never returned home”, Dr Reid said.

Dr Reid has encouraged Vietnam veterans or their families to visit the Department of Veterans’ Affairs’ website to complete an application for a medallion and certificate.

“To request a medallion and certificate, visit the Department of Veterans’ Affairs website and complete the application process”, Dr Reid said.

“I also encourage any serving or former defence personnel to reach out to my office if they are experiencing any issues with Department of Veterans’ Affairs matters or if they require assistance with the online application”, Dr Reid said.
