38 general practices in Robertson have received grant funding of between $25,000 and $35,000 from the Federal Labor Government’s Strengthening Medicare – General Practice Grants Program.
In total, $1,030,000 has been allocated to general practices in Robertson.
To highlight this investment in primary care, Dr Gordon Reid MP was joined by Deputy Prime Minister, The Hon. Richard Marles MP, at Erina Fair Medical Care.
Erina Fair Medical Care received $35,000 from the grant program, which it will use to install a GP safety alarm system, purchase new computer hardware, and put towards a new renovation of the practice.
Federal Member for Robertson, Dr Gordon Reid MP, says the Federal Labor Government is helping to strengthen healthcare in the region.
“Primary care is fundamental healthcare, and it is critical that we are doing everything we can to support our general practices to continue providing high-quality patient care”, Dr Reid said.
“The Federal Labor Government understands that having a strong primary care system, helps reduce pressure on our hospital emergency departments and ensures people can access care when they need it”.
“I am pleased that during November our $3.5 billion investment into Medicare to triple the bulk billing incentive will also take effect”, Dr Reid said.
“Our investment in Medicare will help general practices bulk bill children under 16, pensioners, and those with concession cards”.
“Additionally, The Peninsula Medicare Urgent Care Clinic will open at Umina Beach and start seeing patients for urgent care this month”, Dr Reid said.
“Urgent care includes presentations such as for minor infections, minor fractures, sprains, sports injuries and sudden onset neck and back pain, UTIs, STIs, minor cuts, insect bites, mild burns and more”.
“More needs to be done and we will continue to work towards addressing the issues affecting healthcare in the region”, Dr Reid said.
Erina Fair Medical Care Registered Nurse, Megan Yu, says the grant funding will assist the general practice in a range of areas.
“While we haven’t spent our grant as yet, we have allocated the fund to install a GP safety alarm to all of our consultation rooms, purchase computer hardware, and the final funds will be allocated to our redevelopment of Erina Fair Medical Care, Ms Yu said.
