The Green Point Broadland’s Men’s Shed have celebrated its second year of operation and received funding from the Albanese Labor Government’s Stronger Communities Programme.

The Broadland’s Men’s Shed have used the funding to cover the costs of pouring a concrete slab as part of its shed extensions.

The men’s shed also purchased a computer to assist members with administrative tasks.

Federal Member for Robertson, Dr Gordon Reid MP, says it is great supporting community organisations like local men’s sheds.

“The Broadlands Men’s Shed is an outstanding community organisation on the Central Coast and I wish them a very happy 2nd birthday”, Dr Reid said.

“I am pleased to support the men’s shed with its extensions and help with the costs of pouring a concrete slab to increase capacity”.

“Men’s sheds play an integral part in the community and provide men with meaningful community work during retirement. They are also excellent organisations to bolster men’s mental health and wellbeing”, Dr Reid said.

“I look forward to continuing to support all men’s sheds in Robertson and congratulate the movement on its 30th year of operating across Australia”.

Broadlands Men’s Shed President, Mr Barry Evans, says the funding support has assisted with extensions for the shed.

“Broadlands Men’s Shed would like to express their sincere thanks to the Federal Member for Robertson, Dr Gordon Reid and his outstanding Support Staff for their hard work in support of our Shed”, Mr Evans said.

“We recently were able to lay a large concrete slab for our building extension and purchase a new computer for administrative purposes, thanks to a grant of $7030 under the stronger Communities Program”.

“We would like to take this opportunity to applaud the initiative and thank the Federal Member for his tremendous support of the Men’s Shed Movement”, Mr Evans said.

The Stronger Communities Programme provides not-for-profit organisations with grant funding of between $2,500 to $25,000.
