The federal parliamentary year has finished for the year in what has been a strong start for the Albanese Labor Government.

Member for Robertson, Dr Gordon Reid MP said that the Albanese Government is delivering on its legislative agenda it took to the election.

“It has been a very busy and productive first six months of the Albanese Labor Government. The government has passed laws to take stronger action on climate change, cheaper childcare, establish an independent and robust national anti-corruption commission, and lowered the cost of medications on the pharmaceutical benefits scheme, to name a few”. Dr Reid said.

“The Albanese Labor Government also delivered its first budget where I was able to secure $40 million for a Central Coast Local Roads package, $32 million to begin the upgrade of Avoca Drive at Kincumber, sporting facility upgrades across the Coast, and a community battery for Narara”. Dr Reid said.

“I have delivered a range of speeches on important legislation and community heroes including support for a national anti-corruption commission, our Central Coast Jobs and Skills Forum, cheaper childcare, and recognition of our surf lifesaving clubs on the Coast, who do exceptional work all year round. I would encourage people in Robertson to jump on to my parliamentary page and review the speeches I have delivered”. Dr Reid said.

“I have appreciated getting to know and working with many of my parliamentary colleagues from inside the Australian Labor Party and across the aisle. I co-chair the Parliamentary Friends of General Practice, alongside Liberal Senator Susan McDonald, and Independent Dr Sophie Scamps MP. I have established the Parliamentary Friends of the Voice, with Liberal Bridget Archer MP, and Independent Member, Allegra Spender MP”. Said Dr Reid.

“I have also enjoyed welcoming visiting constituents from Robertson to Parliament House and showing them areas of the building that are often not accessible to the public. It has also been extra special having primary schools from back home visit, of note was my old primary school, Umina Beach Public School.

“There is much more work to be done in 2023, but I am proud of the progress that I have been a part of in the new Albanese Labor Government and look forward to another strong year following the Christmas recess.” Dr Reid said.
