Concerned residents have met with the Federal Member for Robertson to discuss dangerous conditions at the Wards Hill Road and Empire Bay Drive intersection in Empire Bay.

Residents discussed safety concerns at the notorious intersection and what action can be taken.

Federal Member for Robertson, Dr Gordon Reid MP says that he understands the concerns raised with him and will be writing to the new State Minister for Regional Transport and Roads, as well as launch a petition calling on all levels of government to improve safety at the intersection.

“The Wards Hill Road and Empire Bay Drive intersection is no longer fit for purpose and cannot handle the volume of traffic safely during peak periods”, Dr Reid said.

“I will be writing to the new Regional Transport and Roads Minister, Jenny Aitchison MP, and Rik Hart, Administrator of Central Coast Council, to convey the concerns of the communities that use this intersection and to ask what can be done”, Dr Reid said.

“I also have launched a petition online, to provide to Central Coast Council and the State Government to demonstrate the level of concern in the community about this intersection”, Dr Reid said.

“I am encouraging any member on the Central Coast to visit my website and support this campaign”, Dr Reid said.

Killcare Heights resident, Mr Bill Young, who was one of several residents to meet with Dr Reid said action needs to be taken to improve safety at this intersection.

“The congestion and conditions at this intersection are at unsafe levels and residents are fed up”, Mr Young said.

“More needs to be done than band-aid solutions like line marking and more signs. The community wants to see this project as a priority and an outcomes-based solution”, Mr Young said.
