The Ministry of Leftovers, facilitated by Ettalong Baptist Church, has been commended in the House of Representatives by the Federal Member for Robertson, Dr Gordon Reid MP.

The Ministry of Leftovers is a service that provides the community with affordable second-hand goods, as well as free hot beverages, snacks, and a friendly community.

Founded by local churchgoer, Caroline Murphy, in 2017, it started a few days a month with a handful of volunteers.

Today, the Ministry of Leftovers runs 4 days a week and features 20 volunteers.

Quotes attributable to Federal Member for Robertson, Dr Gordon Reid MP:

“I initially visited Ettalong Baptist Church several months ago to meet with Pastor David Gilchrist and Lynette to discuss much-needed accessibility upgrades to the church building.

“While I was meeting with the church community, I learned about the outstanding work of the Ministry of Leftovers, its founder Caroline Murphy, and the rest of the volunteers.

“I knew then how important it was that I recognised this service in the House of Representatives in Canberra.

“It was an honour to again visit the church on a Sunday and let the Ettalong Baptist Church community know that I spoke about their fantastic service in the Australian Parliament.

“Recognising Caroline and the 20 volunteers that help facilitate the Ministry of Leftovers was an absolute must, and I look forward to supporting the service in my role”, Dr Reid said.

The Ettalong Baptist Church is located at 8 Barrenjoey Road, Ettalong Beach, NSW 2257.
