Friends, supporters and Labor Party members were thanked for their assistance with helping elect Dr Gordon Reid at the 2022 Federal Election at a special BBQ on Woy Woy Waterfront over the weekend.
Member for Robertson, Dr Gordon Reid MP says that he wanted to provide an opportunity to thank all his hardworking and committed volunteers and Labor Party members after their efforts during the election campaign.
“Without the grassroots, community-driven campaign that we were able to achieve, we would not have been able to get this outcome. This BBQ was a small thank you to all those volunteers that helped get our team here”. Dr Reid said.
“Our team and I were able to call 17,247 residents and door knock over 10,000 residents from the beginning of our campaign up until election day”.
“There was a pool of over 400 volunteers who assisted me at different points doing electioneering activities from calling residents, door knocking, dropping campaign material into letterboxes and street stalls. All this made the difference on election night, and we were able to achieve a massive swing of just under 7%”. Dr Reid said.
“We are now currently sitting on 52.3% of the two-party preferred vote representing about 50,277 votes according to the latest Australian Electoral Commission update”. Said Dr Reid.
“Again, my thanks go to our campaign team who were able to assist me in inspiring and securing the trust of the people of the Robertson electorate. I now look forward to representing every resident whether they voted for me or not in Canberra”. Said Dr Reid.
Aunty Robyn Reid, local Indigenous Elder at Mingaletta and grandmother to Dr Reid was one such volunteer at the BBQ who was delighted with the outcome of the election result.
“I am super proud of my grandson; he has worked hard each and every day of the election campaign and really got out there and listened carefully to what the issues were and took action”. Robyn Reid said.
“I cannot wait to see what great successes Gordon will be able to secure for our community especially as a Wiradjuri man and representative from our beautiful Indigenous community here on the Central Coast”. Said Robyn Reid.
Dr Gordon Reid’s ‘thank you’ BBQ was held at the Country Women’s Association Hall on Woy Woy Waterfront during Sunday June 19, 2022, from 1:30pm.
