13-year-old Chev Kutt, of Lisarow, has been commended for his heroic actions assisting his sister, Tora, after she was struck by a vehicle while crossing Railway Crescent on her way home from high school.

On February 7, Chev and Tora were walking home following a busy day at school.

This was the first time Tora decided to walk home, having only started high school at the start of 2025.

When Chev and Tora reached Railway Crescent, Tora was struck by a speeding vehicle, leaving her injured and motionless on the road.

Fast-thinking older brother, Chev, leaped into action, keeping Tora calm during a traumatic experience and calling for assistance.

When help arrived, Tora was taken to hospital and treated for her injuries.

Chev and the wider Lisarow community are now calling on Central Coast Council to review pedestrian safety along Railway Crescent and examine whether a pedestrian crossing would improve pedestrian safety.

Quotes attributable to Federal Member for Robertson, Dr Gordon Reid MP:

“Chev is our local hero, who remained incredibly calm in a very stressful and scary situation.

“At 13 years of age, Chev demonstrated immense maturity and fast-thinking action.

“I am relieved that Tora is now making a full recovery and continues to undertake her studies at high school in year 7.

“I want to formally commend Chev on his outstanding action, quickly rendering assistance to his younger sister following the incident and then calling for assistance.

“It is disgusting that the person responsible failed to stop and provide assistance and chose to keep driving on. My thanks to NSW Police who have now caught and dealt with the offender.

“I am supporting Chev, and the community’s requests for improved pedestrian safety along Railway Crescent, Lisarow”, Dr Reid said.
