Jirramba Reserve local playspace in Saratoga received an upgrade through funding from the Australian Government, Central Coast Council, and the 3 Villages Community Group.

The Australian Government provided $105,000, while Central Coast Council and 3 Villages Community Group provided $5000 and $9000 respectively.

Member for Robertson, Dr Gordon Reid MP said that the upgrade to Jirramba Reserve local playspace is an example of what can be achieved when governments and the community work together.

“The Jirramba Reserve local playspace upgrade is an excellent example of government and community groups coming together and working on a shared project. The upgrade has ensured greater accessibility and improved safety at the playspace. Dr Reid said.

“I would like to thank Central Coast Council and its staff for always showing commitment to their work and for completing an outstanding upgrade to Jirramba Reserve playspace”. Dr Reid said.

Central Coast Council Administrator, Rik Hart said this renewed local playspace at Saratoga is a great example of a safe and engaging community space where children can play and locals of all ages can connect and socialise.

“The design of this playspace embraces a whole-of-park approach, with the new play equipment complementing and connecting to the park furniture, picnic tables and toilet amenities, with grassed areas under the shade of mature trees,” Mr Hart said.

“Funding from the Australian Government, and additional financial contribution from the 3 Villages Community Group Inc, has enabled Council to deliver the community’s vison for activated open spaces and facilities in natural settings, with improved accessibility.”

3 Villages Community Group spokesperson, Ms Taia Sansom said the community are already enjoying the upgraded playspace.

“The completion of the new Jirramba playspace has been a wonderful gift from the Federal Government to the community of the 3 Villages.

Many children now come and play together and they are staying much longer because of the variety of play equipment, and especially because of the swings which suit the older kids”. Ms Sansom said.

“I've seen mums and dads having fun with their kids on the swings, too, which is great. I've seen that lots of children now go there after school.

They are absolutely loving the whole space and this is encouraging exercise and fresh air instead of screen time. Thank you so very much for this play space addition to our community”. Ms Sansom said.

Upgrades to Jirramda Reserve local playspace include replacement of existing play equipment, new turf, rubber softfall, concrete pathway, and landscaping.
