Six Local Sporting Champions have been recognised for their sporting achievements during a special afternoon tea hosted by the Federal Member for Robertson, Dr Gordon Reid MP.

The afternoon tea took place on Tuesday September 24 and acknowledged local sportspeople who have received Federal Government support through the Local Sporting Champions Program.

“It was a pleasure welcoming several Local Sporting Champions to my office recently to share a special afternoon tea.

“I was able to recognise each sportsperson and ask questions of them about their sport and how they plan to use the support they have received from the Federal Government.

“Again, congratulations to each of the Local Sporting Champions Program recipients”, Dr Reid said.

  • Kaine Hieber – U 21 World Championship – Karate.
  • Tatem Hieber - Junior, Cadets & U 21 Championship – Karate.
  • Luke Shaw - School Sport Australia National Cross Country Championships - Cross Country.
  • Luke Roberts - School Sport Australia National Cross Country Championships - Cross Country.
  • Joshua Roberts - School Sport Australia National Cross Country Championships - Cross Country.
  • Patrick Matters - World Floorball Championships Under 19 Qualifications – Floorball.

Round 2 of the 2024-25 Local Sporting Champions Program is now open until October 31, 2024.
