Gosford East Public School has received $10,000 from the Federal Labor Government’s Saluting Their Service Commemorative Grants (STS) Program to build a new memorial and garden to honour Australia’s military history.

The project will include QR codes linked to information in the school library and will be an interactive outdoor learning experience for students.

The STS Program aims to commemorate the service and sacrifice of Australia’s service personnel who served in wars, conflicts and peace operations, and their families.

Quotes attributable to Federal Member for Robertson, Dr Gordon Reid MP:

“Gosford East Public School is a fantastic community, and I am pleased to see support from the Australian Government go towards an important project at the school.

“This new memorial and learning space will educate students about Australia’s military history and its personnel in a hands-on interactive approach.

“It is important younger generations understand the sacrifice of our former and serving defence personnel and their families”, Dr Reid said.

Quotes attributable to Gosford East Public School Principal, Ms Nicole Burgess:

“We are so excited to receive this support from the Australian Government.

“We will construct a learning space with links to Australia’s military history.

“The current space looks like a bit of a dog’s breakfast, and we will be so proud once this project is completed.

“This new memorial garden will enhance learning and give students a hands-on learning experience”, Ms Burgess said.
