Ocean Beach Surf Lifesaving Club has been awarded $2,000 through the Federal Government’s Saluting Their Service Commemorative Grants Program.

Ocean Beach Surf Lifesaving Club has used the funds to purchase a replacement flagpole following the deterioration of an existing flagpole.

Federal Member for Robertson, Dr Gordon Reid MP, met with Ocean Beach Surf Lifesaving Club Grants Officer Kevin Manning, and Caretaker Bob Nash, to announce the funding.

“Ocean Beach Surf Lifesaving Club is a beautiful surf lifesaving club on the Central Coast”, Dr Reid said.

“I am pleased to see the Albanese Labor Government support the club by funding a replacement flagpole so that the club can continue flying its flags during the patrol season and during special events”.

“I look forward to continuing to support all our hardworking and brilliant surf lifesaving clubs on the Central Coast”, Dr Reid said.

Ocean Beach Surf Lifesaving Club Grants Officer, Mr Kevin Manning, says the flagpoles are regularly used.

“The club’s flagpoles are frequently used during the patrol season and for special occasions like ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day”, Mr Manning said.

“One flagpole has become a WHS matter, and so this funding from the Federal Government will allow the club to replace it”.

Ocean Beach Surf Lifesaving Club Caretaker, Mr Bob Nash, thanked Dr Reid for his support.

“On behalf of all club members, we wish to thank Dr Reid for his support and advocacy to obtain this grant funding”, Mr Nash said.

The Saluting Their Service Program is for projects that commemorate the service and sacrifice of Australia’s military personnel in wars, conflicts, and peace operations.

Funding through Batch 2 opens from June 14 to October 10, 2023.
