Alongside co-chair, the Federal Member for Kooyong, Dr Monique Ryan MP, Federal Member for Robertson, Dr Gordon Reid MP, have established the Parliamentary Friends Group for Emergency Medicine and Care.

The new parliamentary friendship group will be a conduit between the emergency medicine and care community and the Federal Government. The group’s priorities will include advocacy, improving policy development in relation to emergency healthcare, and the needs of the patient when navigating Australia’s overall healthcare system.

Quotes attributable to Federal Member for Robertson, Dr Gordon Reid MP:

“As the inaugural co-chair of the Parliamentary Friends of Emergency Medicine and Care, alongside my parliamentary colleague, Dr Monique Ryan MP, I look forward to being a strong conduit between the Commonwealth Government and the emergency medicine and care community.

“Through considered collaboration, this parliamentary friendship group will be able to support greater patient care through better informed policy development.

“This is particularly important considering the challenges that exist in relation to aged care across Australia, and the impacts this is having across the healthcare sector, especially its effects on our hospital emergency departments.

“I look forward to bringing together Members of Parliament, Ministers, and other emergency medicine and care stakeholders and identifying solutions to a range of issues.”
