Gosford Men’s Shed has received funding from the Albanese Labor Government’s Stronger Communities Programme and 2022-23 Volunteer Grants.
The men’s shed received $4,800 from the Stronger Communities Programme to purchase a 3D printer and $4,500 to buy new computers.
In total, they received $9,300.
Federal Member for Robertson, Dr Gordon Reid MP, says this grant funding is a boost for Gosford Men’s Shed.
“Gosford Men’s Shed is an industrious work hub, with many members working on outstanding projects to support the community”, Dr Reid said.
“The Federal Government assistance that has been provided will enable them to print tools, tool pieces, and other equipment with its new 3D printer which will help members undertake and complete projects”.
“The new computers will also ensure the shed is up to date with the latest office technology and can complete administrative tasks efficiently”, Dr Reid said.
“I would like to congratulate Gosford Men’s Shed and thank all its members for their community work”.
President of Gosford Men’s Shed, Mr Larry Lloyd, explained how the funding will assist them.
“Gosford Men's Shed has been in operation since 2009, the IT grant has enabled us to buy new computers for the first time, the 3D printers will encourage the older generation to keep up with technology”, Mr Lloyd said.
“The Stronger Communities and the Volunteers grants enable not for profit community-based organisations to grow and prosper”.
The Federal Government’s Volunteer Grants provide not-for-profit organisations with funding of between $1000 to $5000 to support the work of its volunteers.
The 2023-24 Volunteer Grants are now open, and organisations are encouraged to contact Dr Reid’s office for an expressions of interest form.
