Following a near-hit with a car while crossing at traffic lights along Central Coast Highway, local resident, Mr Michael Cronshaw, has emailed his local Federal Member of Parliament to request urgent action to improve pedestrian safety at this crossing.

After reviewing Mr Cronshaw’s correspondence and understanding the situation, Dr Reid has written to the NSW Minister for Regional Transport and Roads, Jenny Aitchison MP, to draw the Minister’s attention to this safety matter.

Quotes attributable to Federal Member for Robertson, Dr Gordon Reid MP:

“It is a relief that Mr Cronshaw and his wife were not harmed while crossing the Central Coast Highway at these lights.

“It is evident that action needs to be taken to improve pedestrian safety as well as improve the line of sight for passing motorists.

“Following my representations, I am pleased that the Minister has similarly acknowledged the risk to pedestrians, and motorists, and instructed Transport for NSW to improve conditions at this crossing.

“The Minister has outlined that Transport for NSW will clear vegetation to improve the line of sight and will install an advance warning sign to alert motorists to the traffic signals ahead.

“I thank Mr Cronshaw for having raised this matter with the relevant authorities and I thank the Minister for acting swiftly”, Dr Reid said.

Quotes attributable to Mr Michael Cronshaw:

“I am very impressed with the response my initial letter to Dr Gordon Reid has received.

“I am also pleasantly surprised with the State Minister for responding so quickly.

“The response I have received has restored my faith in government and politics.

“This advance warning sign will hopefully improve pedestrian safety and save lives”, Mr Cronshaw said.

The traffic signals in question are located at the intersection of Mann Street and Central Coast Highway, Gosford.
