The Southern Spirit Cricket Club in Umina Beach has received $7,500 through the Albanese Labor Government’s Stronger Communities Programme.

The cricket club has used the funding to purchase sporting equipment including a mobile scoreboard and other items.

Federal Member for Robertson, Dr Gordon Reid MP, says the Southern Spirit Cricket Club are in good shape heading into the season.

“I am pleased to announce this support for the Southern Spirit Cricket Club and wish them well in the upcoming cricket season”, Dr Reid said.

“Sport is a huge part of all our lives; it is important we keep healthy with regular exercise”.

“When we have strong sporting clubs, we have healthy communities”, Dr Reid said.

Southern Spirit Cricket Club Spokesperson, Mr Sean Dickson, said this support will help future proof the club.

“The Southern Spirit Cricket Club would like to thank Dr Gordon Reid for the granting of these funds as part of the Stronger Communities Programme”, Mr Dickson said.

“Grants like these are essential for local sporting clubs to help provide top quality recreational services and experiences to its members and the greater community”.

“The funds granted to us have been utilised for the purchase of assets which will go a long way in future proofing our club for current and future members”, Mr Dickson said.

The Stronger Communities Programme provides not-for-profit organisations with grant funding of between $2,500 to $25,000.
