Terrigal Marine Rescue has received $1,000 from the Federal Labor Government’s 2023-24 Volunteer Grants.

Terrigal Marine Rescue will purchase new battery systems to ensure continued operations of the base following a power failure during weather events or disasters.

Quotes attributable to Federal Member for Robertson, Dr Gordon Reid MP:

“The volunteers at Terrigal Marine Rescue undertake outstanding work, assisting people on the water in emergency situations.

“The organisation also educates the community about safe boat use on the water and what to do in emergencies.

“I thank Terrigal Marine Rescue and its volunteers for their dedication to our Central Coast community.

Quotes attributable to Shaun Smith, Terrigal Marine Rescue Unit Commander:

“Terrigal Marine Rescue has approximately 41 members, and 3 vessels.

“We will use this grant funding to support our volunteers by purchasing battery back-up systems, which will enable the base to continue operating during a power outage.

“Our base patrols a significant stretch of coastline, from Terrigal all the way to Lake Macquarie”, Mr Smith said.
