Following a community campaign for a safety fence and shade at the new Kariong Playspace, Central Coast Council has agreed to construct a fence at the playground.

Over 200 people signed a community petition which called for the safety features.

However, the campaign continues until adequate shade is provided at the playground.

“I welcome the announcement by Central Coast Council that it will construct a safety fence at the new Kariong Playspace.

“This is a commonsense decision, which should have occurred when they were initially building the playground.

“The community will continue its campaign for adequate shade, as we know how important it is to be sun safe.

“I encourage the community to continue to share our petition”, Dr Reid said.
